Worcestershire jeweller named as finalist in local awards

The owner of a Worcestershire jewellery shop has been shortlisted in the annual Midlands Family Business Awards.

The awards, which celebrate the work and achievements of family businesses across the region, will see Asa Cupitt – owner of Cupitt Jewellers in Bromsgrove – named as one of the five finalists in the Entrepreneur of the Year category.

Cupitt took over the running of the family business in 2013, following the death of her husband Simon Cupitt – a third generation jeweller.

She decided the time was right to move forward with a new focus and embarked on a major refurbishment project, which included re-opening the onsite workshop and re-assessing the product range to include contemporary jewellery with an emphasis on British designers.

She was nominated as one of the finalists for her “spirited approach” to transforming her business.

She said: “It is an honour to have been shortlisted for this award. 2016 has been a very special year because we celebrated the 70th anniversary of the business in June. Who knows, we might have cause for another celebration in November.”

The winner will be announced at a celebratory dinner at Birmingham’s Great Hall on Thursday 17th November 2016.
