The International Palladium Board and Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design today announced Yuki Agriardi Koswara as the winner of the Palladium Jewellery Design Competition 2012.
Yuki Agriardi Koswara's 'Essentia' neckpiece was deemed to have best reflected the brief to showcase palladium's inherent properties of lightness and strength. Inspired by the life of a fictional paleontologist and based on the visual resources she would encounter – symmetry, pattern, light and the shades of her world – the winning design was celebrated at an exclusive launch during London Fashion Week at Somerset House.
Yuki commented on his accolade: "I'm incredibly excited to have won the Palladium Jewellery Design Competition. I'm very grateful to both the International Palladium Board and Central Saint Martins for giving me the opportunity to produce my design, and for the opportunity to show at London Fashion Week."
The finalists' designs are being showcased at BFC Rock Vault – a brand new initiative to promote Britain's most innovative jewellery talent at London Fashion Week – and both Yuki and runner-up Vance Ng Sze Wing will receive a financial award from the International Palladium Board.
Brad Mills, chairman of the International Palladium Board, commented: "We are inspired by the creativity and innovation presented in the finalists' work. The students have perfectly interpreted the inherent attributes of palladium in the winning designs."
