Blancpain launches limited-edition Valentine’s Day watch

Luxury watch brand Blancpain has announced the launch of a limited-edition version of its historic Ladybird model for Valentine’s Day.

The iconic model in Blancpain’s Women collection since it was first created in 1956, Ladybird was named as the world’s smallest round watch at the time of its launch.

The new version of the timepiece – the Ladybird Saint Valentine’s Day 2016 model – will feature a 21.5 mm-diameter white gold case lit up by a bezel set with 0.5-carat diamonds, a mother-of-pearl dial adorned with brilliant-cut diamonds and a mother-of-pearl marquetry heart with rubies and diamonds on the face of the watch.

The timepiece will also feature a 15.7 mm-diameter self-winding 6150 movement – which the company claims to be “one of the smallest” in the world – equipped with a silicon balance-spring.

A white gold charm picturing a heart pierced by an arrow – made out of rubies and diamonds – will be displayed on the watch, which can also be detached and attached at either 12 o’clock or 6 o’clock.

The Ladybird Saint Valentine’s Day 2016, which also features a calfskin strap, is issued in an engraved and numbered 99-piece limited edition case
