Catherine Jones of Cambridge launches new US watch brand in UK

Jewellery retailer Catherine Jones of Cambridge has launched the ‘Animal Watch’ by new US watch brand 3thirty3, and is only one of two stores worldwide to stock the watch.

The watch, which features a leather strap, stainless steel case and water resistance, will raise money for the International Anti-Poaching Foundation (IAPF), with £90 of every sale of the watch going to the charity.

The launch coincides with the visit of the Duke of Cambridge to the White House yesterday, where he spoke to President Obama of his mission to protect endangered species.

James Henderson, who created 3thirty3, explained that the concept “was not to create a new charity but a new business that, through its success, could help charitable causes in a meaningful and sustainable way.”

Vanessa Burkitt, Managing director of Catherine Jones, told Jewellery Focus: “’When Catherine, my mother, started the business, she was considered to be a pioneer, championing contemporary jewellery and new ideas. She taught well. Today, we are pioneering a new concept in the watch world by launching the Animal watch, by 3thirty3.

“The brand was conceived with a charitable action built into the business plan and for each watch we sell, £90 will go to the International Anti-Poaching Foundation. This chimed with our established involvement in animal conservation through our own charity, The Catherine Jones Foundation.”
