Monica Vinader receives Sustainability Award from HM The Queen

Jeweller Monica Vinader has received the 2022 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development from Her Majesty The Queen at the jeweller’s Holkham headquarters.

Her Majesty then presented a commemorative crystal trophy, as well as The Queen’s Awards flag that the business can fly for the next five years.

Founded in 1966, The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the “most prestigious” business awards in the country, with winners able to use the esteemed emblem for the next five years.

The Sustainable Development category celebrates organisations who develop products and services that provide benefits to the environment, society and the economy.

Monica Vinader received the 2022 Sustainable Development award because of her industry-leading standards and bold targets – all of which are guided by the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals.

Notably, last October, the jeweller partnered with the world’s first net zero jewellery manufacturer, Ennovie, to implement blockchain traceability.

This technology allows customers to trace selected styles from design to material sourcing to craftsmanship.

As well as working towards transparency, the jeweller has a changemaking circularity agenda, crafting its jewellery with 100% recycled gold and silver, and offering a jewellery recycling programme, five-year warranty and lifetime repairs service.

Additionally, Monica Vinader recently embarked on a five-year biodiversity project, preserving a seven hectare site in the Norfolk countryside to improve air, water and soil quality, as well as sequester carbon and improve the biodiversity of the land.

During the visit, The Queen toured the head office and design studio, located in converted 18th Century listed farm buildings within the Holkham estate.

The Queen also engaged with a range of employees from across the business, touring the design workshop and catching a glimpse of the jeweller’s engraving machine and 3D printer in action.

Vinader said: “Receiving this award from Her Majesty The Queen is an absolute honour. We’re always striving to make meaningful changes for our planet, our people and our communities. We’re proud of how far we’ve come, and feel more determined than ever to continue pushing boundaries.”
