Christie’s to hold ‘The London Edit’ online auction

The auction will also present a selection of jewels from the collection of Victoria, Lady de Rothschild and Romana McEwen, née von Hofmannsthal

Christie’s is set to present a new auction, ‘Jewels Online: The London Edit’, which will showcase “beautiful” period jewels and “striking” contemporary designs.

Many of the pieces have reportedly been signed by renowned jewellers including Harry Winston, Cartier, Van Cleef and Arpels and Buccellati. 

The auction will also present a selection of jewels from the collection of Victoria, Lady de Rothschild and Romana McEwen, née von Hofmannsthal. 

Online bidding is open between 12 to 26 November, and pieces are on view at King Street from 18 to 25 November.

The auction will include a sapphire and diamond necklace by Harry Winston (estimate: £70,000 – 90,000), an elegant Art Déco diamond bracelet by Cartier (estimate: £50,000 – 70,000), and a rare mid-19th Century natural pearl, diamond and ruby bracelet of lattice design by Morel (£50,000 – 80,000).

It also includes an “impressive” 32.10 carat round brilliant-cut diamond mounted by Cartier (£200,000 – 300,000) and a 1.02 carat oval-cut Fancy Vivid Blue diamond (estimate: £300,000 – 500,000).

Jewels from the collection of Victoria, Lady de Rothschild will be led by a pair of smoky quartz and diamond ‘Gordons’ cuff bracelets by Herz Belperron, circa 1995 (estimate: £20,000 – 30,000) and Art Déco pieces including a rock crystal, diamond, pearl and onyx tassel brooch (estimate: £25,000 – 35,000) and Cartier coral and rock crystal bracelet (estimate: £15,000 – 20,000). 

Further highlights include an emerald, ruby, sapphire and diamond tree brooch by Henri Picq (estimate: £8,000 – 12,000). 

Meanwhile, the jewels from the collection of Romana McEwen, née von Hofmannsthal include a carved sapphire, emerald and diamond jabot pin by Cartier (estimate: £24,000 – 30,000), an Art Déco nephrite, lapis lazuli and diamond bracelet by Cartier (estimate: £12,000 – 15,000) and a Cartier diamond bracelet (estimate: £70,000 – 90,000) previously the property of her mother the American heiress Ava Alice Muriel Astor.
