The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) has announced that luxury watch manufacturers IWC Schaffhausen and Panerai have achieved certification by meeting the highest ethical, social and environmental standards established by the council’s Member Certification system.

The RJC’s interim CEO, Catherine Sproule, said: “The successful verification assessment [for both manufacturers] was led by Michel Mooser from SGS, one of the independent third-party auditing firms accredited by the RJC.”

IWC’s chief executive, Georges Kern, said: “We are pleased to receive the Member Certification by the Responsible Jewellery Council as it validates our commitment to ensuring responsible business and sustainable thinking. [We] believe that it is our duty to perform due diligence to supply chains and to cooperate with companies that uphold the same values and principles as our own.”

Angelo Bonati, CEO of Officine Panerai, said: “I take great pride in the certification awarded to Panerai by the Responsible Jewellery Council. Our company has a long and honourable history, a story of enormous passion and human values that we have always put before any business considerations.”
