Dansk Smykkekunst receives Danish Export Award

Danish fashion jewellery brand, Dansk Smykkekunst, has become one of five companies in Denmark to be awarded the King Frederik IX Honorary Award for Excellence for “exemplary efforts” in the Danish export market.

Managing directors, Christian and Malene Storm were presented with the esteemed award aboard the Royal Yacht, ‘Dannebrog’, by Henrik, His Royal Highness The Prince Consort, at a prestigious ceremony.

The Danish Jewellery brand is managed by husband and wife team, Christian and Malene Storm, alongside a team of five members. Previous winners of the accolade include Danish Crown, Siemens Wind Power A/S and FLSmidth A/S.

Dansk Smykkekunst has one of Scandinavia’s largest collections of fashion jewellery and accessories, is sold in 11 European countries via 1500 outlets, and has more recently developed sales in the USA, Canada and Russia. Exports therefore comprise 81% of total turnover.

As part of the recent export drive, the UK is now the second biggest market for Dansk Smykkekunst outside Scandinavia.

Christian Storm, managing director, Dansk Smykkekunst, said: “This really means a lot to us to be included, despite being a smaller company. It is a huge recognition of our work.”

Mogens Jensen, trade and development minister, Denmark, added: “These companies deserve the honour of receiving the export award. They have all achieved remarkable success in export markets and have managed to increase their total exports.

“One in four Danish jobs depends on Demark’s exports, so it’s always great news when Danish companies succeed out in the big wide world.”
