The 79th British Jewellery & Giftware Federation Benevolent Society Ball has raised some £30,000 for the charity, the Benevolent Society.
The Benevolent Society Ball, which took place on December 4 at The St John’s Hotel, Solihull, attracted over 370 guests from the jewellery trade, The Giftware Association and other member organisations of the British Allied Trades Federation.
A Charity Auction was conducted by David Doyle of Jewellery Brokers, who is the Society’s Vice Chairman. Lots donated for the auction included lunch for 12 at The Birmingham Assay Office, a ‘Silver Curve’ claret jug donated by silversmith Martyn Pugh and a VIP Package to an NEC Venue donated by Paul Thandi and Kathryn James of the NEC Group.
The Benevolent Society was also delighted to receive a substantial donation from The Surface Engineering Association which was represented by its Chairman Stephen Parkes of LB Parkes & Co and by a table from Ashton & Moore.
Incorporated in the annual event were the BJA Member Awards, designed to celebrate the UK’s diverse jewellery industry.
