The council of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) has announced it will postpone its upcoming annual general meeting (AGM), citing the need to resolve ‘internal matters’.

Following an announcement confirming the dates of the AGM, due to take place on June 24, the council of the association said that it has taken the decision to postpone the meeting until further notice.

In an official statement the council of the association said: “The council of Gem-A announces that they have been advised in the current circumstances that it is appropriate to postpone the AGM scheduled for June 24 until various internal matters have been duly examined, debated and concluded.”

The council said that it would like to assure its members that the board are working diligently to resolve these issues and a revised date will be announced in due course, and in “accordance with the Memorandum and Articles of the association”.

Gem-A added that it would like to apologise to all of its members for the decision and any inconvenience caused.
