Serendipity Diamonds, a UK-based diamond and jewellery supplier, has added traceable, ethically-sourced CanadaMark diamond engagement rings as part of its offering.
The company said it created its first 100% traceable diamond engagement ring commission earlier this month – using a combination of Fairtrade Gold and CanadaMark diamonds.
CanadaMark diamonds are responsibly mined in Canada’s northwest territories and tracked through audited processes at every stage from the mine, through to the process of cutting and polishing.
Each diamond is laser inscribed with a unique serial number, which is then recorded on a certificate card which accompanies the diamond on its journey. The serial number can be entered on the CanadaMark website to verify information, including where the diamond was mined and its original rough weight.
Mark Johnson, founder and director of Serendipity Diamonds, said: “We are very excited to offer our buyers the option to purchase a diamond or an item of diamond jewellery with the reassurance of knowing exactly where their diamond was mined.
“It adds greater depth to the experience of buying a diamond if you know where your diamond came from and that it was responsibly mined.”
The new service follows the introduction of Fairtrade Gold in 2014 as the company said it has put a greater emphasis on providing responsibly sourced materials from new and existing supply chains.
Each CanadaMark diamond supplied by Serendipity, arrives with a laboratory certificate from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). It said diamonds are available from 0.30cts upwards in a range of high colour and clarity grades and can be purchased either loose or set into Fairtrade Gold jewellery.
