Auction house Christie’s is set to auction a collection of jewellery owned by former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Some 350 historic and personal lots will be offered across two sales by the auction house. A flagship auction will present 150 lots and take place in London at Christie’s headquarters on Tuesday 15 December, while an online-only sale comprising 200 lots will be open for bids on Thursday 3 December until 16 December.

The jewellery to be offered in the auctions will include an Art Deco emerald and diamond necklace by Chaumet, which is estimated to sell for between £120,000 to £180,000.

A George III diamond flower brooch circa 1800 – worn by Thatcher in her official portrait which hangs at 10 Downing Street – is predicted to fetch between £8,000 and £10,000. The sale also includes a two-row cultured pearl necklace, composed of 66 and 69 cultured pearls, with estimates between £1,000 and £1,500.

The property is being sold on behalf of beneficiaries of Thatcher’s estate as part of the arrangements following her death in 2013.
