The total number of pieces hallmarked in June 2021 soared 107.4% when compared with June 2020, according to the latest figures from the Birmingham Assay Office.

Some 672,021 pieces were hallmarked in June 2021, compared with 323,967 pieces in June last year. 

Gold hallmarked pieces for June sat at 321,318 up 140.5% against the 133,589 pieces hallmarked in the same period in 2020. 

Silver hallmarked pieces also saw a great increase, rising 77.9% to 315,709 up from 177,500. 

In addition, the number of platinum hallmarked totalled 34, 428 marking a 175.4% increase against last year’s figures. 

Hallmarked palladium pieces also rose 50.1% to 566 up from 377 last June.
