Prada has launched its first fine jewellery collection, Eternal Gold, which uses 100% certified recycled gold alongside artisanal techniques and precious gems and metals.
The sustainable collection comprises snake bracelets, heart motifs, chain necklaces, and ribbon chokers, which Prada said are signs and signifiers of affection and love.
Prada’s own archetype, the triangle, is traced in every piece, appearing as a clasp closure, earrings and pendants, while its angles shape chain links and hearts, the head of a snake bracelet. Additionally, gold is the focus and it is used in its true form and colour.
The company said that proportions are reconsidered, with pendants blown up and chain-links exaggerated to create impact.
Prada’s recycled gold is drawn from recycled material sources, including industrial gold, and post-consumer precious objects, and meets the ‘Chain of Custody’ standards set by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).
Prada said the traceability of diamond origins is conventionally only possible with stones of 0.5 carat or larger, but the company has expanded the concept for the first time to stones of all sizes.
Records of this verification have been logged on the Aura Consortium Blockchain’s platform and can be accessed by Prada fine jewellery customers who also will be able to verify the authenticity of their pieces.
The journey of individual pieces will be accessible by Prada’s clientele, allowing them to trace the provenance of every aspect.
