Dior has expanded its The Gem Dior collection, first launched in 2021, with new models designed by Victoire de Castellane, the creative director of Dior Joaillerie.

The collection continues to feature a geometric motif with a “skillfully orchestrated” stacking of little rectangles.

Dior said that the irregular raised surface gives the jewel “rhythm and offers the touch a particularly sensual experience”.

The collection is formed of seven rings and seven bracelets which allow for “multi-wear and mix-and-match styling”.

As with the original collection, which combined jewellery and clockwork, two watch models complete the latest Gem Dior instalment.

The jewellery retailer stated that the shaped watches “echo the aesthetics of the entire collection”, with an interplay of contrasting materials, colours and densities expressed through malachite, gold, steel, lapis lazuli and hard stones.

The idea of geological strata and the inherent geometry of uncut stones served as De Castellane’s inspiration for the new pieces. This focus has been “dear” to the creative director since Dior’s 2019 haute joaillerie collection.

A tribute to haute couture and to the house’s founder can also be distinguished in the resemblance to the small fabric samples that Christian Dior assembled on his large chart boards.
