The number of hallmarked pieces from the four UK Assay offices dropped 30% year on year in May from 842,236 down to 586,468.
The figures mark another month of decline after April saw a decline of 24% and March saw a decline of 36%.
Gold hallmarking dropped 18.5% from 336,108 down to 273,908 although 585 gold saw an increase of 11%.
Silver hallmarking fell nearly 40% with 925 silver, the most popular silver, falling 39%. 800 silver saw an increase of 159% but this was an increase from 17 to 44 items hallmarked.
Moreover, platinum also saw a decline in hallmarking from 41,606 to 29,966, a decline of 28%.
