MCH Group, the trade show organiser behind Baselworld, has launched its new platform ‘HourUniverse’, which will hold an event in April in Basel, Switzerland.

The company said: “With Baselworld having been put to rest, the MCH teams have put all their expertise and the feedback from customers, buyers, visitors into giving birth to a new platform concept.

“The new platform named HourUniverse is a B2B2C meeting point that places the customers of the brands and exhibitors at the heart of its focus, reversing the order of the past.”

HourUniverse said it is designed as a “hybrid platform with a year-round, modern digital offer for the watch and jewellery community”, which also maintains a lively exchange independent of physical encounters.

The news come after organisers of Baselworld, the MCH Group, confirmed that the 2021 event will no longer go ahead.

The annual event, which was due to take place between 28 January and 2 February 2021, has been scrapped as the MCH Group said it had “reached an agreement” with representatives of exhibitors for the cancelled 2020 show.

The organisers said that an “amicable solution” was drawn up in collaboration with the Swiss Exhibitors’ Committee, and has now been “unanimously approved” by the Comité Consultatif and supported by industry associations.
