Bonhams Jewellery has sold Dame Joan Collins private collection for over £3.7m, tripling its pre-sale estimate.

Part of the jewellery proceeds will be reportedly donated to The Shooting Stars Children’s Hospice, which Collins is a patron.

Among Collins items which sold were a “fancy pink” diamond and diamond ring, by Meister which sold for £838,750, which surpassed its pre-sale estimate of £550,000 – £750,000.

A rare diamond brooch by Van Cleef and Arpels, which sold for £122,750, eight times its pre-sale estimate of £15,000 – £20,000.

The sale made on all of Collins collections totalled to £3,769,123.

Other items that were sold at the auction included a diamond three-stone ring, sold for £100,250 (estimated at £40,000 – 60,000), an art “nouveau enamel”, Pâte de Verre and Citrine brooch, by Lalique which was sold for £69,000 (estimated at £30,000 – 50,000) and a sapphire and diamond ring which was sold for £144,000 (estimated at £75,000 – 100,000).

Jean Ghika, global head of jewellery at Bonhams said: “We are delighted with the results of today’s sale.

“Despite taking place behind closed doors, the bidding remained spirited and the results demonstrate that high quality pieces with extraordinary provenance continue to captivate buyers around the world.”
