In recent years the NAG has discussed both the benefits and drawbacks of hiring apprentices, stating that many industries felt stifled by a lack of government support when it came to employing young people.

With almost 25 per cent of 18- to 24-year-olds unemployed, the NAG states there has never been a better time to develop and retain a talented and skilled workforce, and that apprenticeships are an ideal way to do it.

Apprenticeships can enable retailers to offer young people an opportunity to develop their skills and, as a result, contribute to better performing, more competitive businesses.

To this end, the NAG has issued calls to interested parties from central London, Derbyshire, the north east, Manchester, South and West Yorkshire and the south west. Please email [email protected] for more information.
