Established in order to meet the changing demands of the market and improve customer service, the sub-office hallmarking facility at Hockley Mint will be staffed by employees of the Birmingham Assay Office, and will be in operation at the Warstone Lane premises as of early June.

As part of the continuing redevelopment of Hockley Mint, a brand new space for the sub-office will be created at the heart of the custom-built production facility.

Gary Wroe, managing director of Hockley Mint, stated: “We will be able to offer an improved service to our customers by decreasing the movement of metal, and making a significant time and quality improvement to our processes. With the addition of a sub-office, Hockley Mint will be able to further improve its operations and work more efficiently, for the good of its customers.”

Chief executive of the Birmingham Assay Office Michael Allchin added: “The Birmingham Assay Office is keen to support UK jewellery manufacturers and enable them to give their customers the fast, high quality service they require. The new facility will be commissioned as soon as possible, and we know that Hockley Mint will find it very beneficial to their business.”
