A jewellers in Doncaster town centre has been targeted by robbers who are believed to have threatened staff with weapons.
The incident took place at around 11:25am at HL Browns jewellery store in St Sepulchre Gate on January 28, following reports that three masked men had entered the premises.
It is alleged that the men threatened staff with weapons including a hammer and an axe, before fleeing with a quantity of watches.
The men, who were described as wearing dark clothing and balaclavas, left the scene in a vehicle, which has since been recovered nearby by police officers. It is believed that while fleeing, the men caused damage to a police vehicle.
Andy Knowles, detective sergeant at South Yorkshire Police, said: “This robbery was committed in broad daylight in a busy part of the town centre. The staff at the store have been left shaken, but thankfully uninjured, by this incident and we need to find the persons responsible.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the town centre this lunchtime and may have seen something, please give us a call and tell us what you know.”
Witnesses have been urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 346 of January 28 2015, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
