Three men have been arrested and charged following an armed robbery at a jewellers in Winchester on Friday 15 April.

Police were called to the incident shortly after 9am at Justice Jewellers in Parchment Street, after two men wearing motorcycle helmets entered the store armed with an imitation firearm. The third man was seen waiting in a van nearby.

Armed officers from the Joint Operations Unit at Hampshire Constabulary were deployed to the scene along with dog units, to assist local officers. Three men were arrested and held in custody shortly after.

A quantity of jewellery worth more than £200,000 was stolen, but police said nobody was injured during the robbery.

Detective Inspector Lee Macarthur said: “This happened in the middle of the busy city centre at a time when there were a lot of people around.

“I want to reassure the public that this incident was dealt with quickly by specialist officers who were on the scene within minutes.”

David George, 21, of Furzen Crescent, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, Domingo Nsita, 28, of Windsor Crescent, Wembley, London and 21-year-old Joshua Tiloye of Featherstone Close, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, have been charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The three men are due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Monday, April 18.
