Bridlington thieves make off with £400k of jewellery

Griffin Jewellers in Prospect Street, Bridlington, was yesterday hit by thieves who cut a square hole in the store’s window before stealing a reported £400,000 worth of diamond rings. 

It is reported that the thieves took 15 seconds to cut the hole and were gone in just over one minute after arriving at the scene.

Police attended and cordoned off the shop and crime scene investigators conducted inquiries yesterday evening and investigations are continuing today.

The police have confirmed that no members of staff or customers were injured during the incident that took place just before 5pm on Monday November 10.

A statement from Humberside Police said that Statements have been taken from a number of people and detectives are currently tracing other witnesses.

Police said that they are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the break-in itself or the motorcyclists arriving or leaving the vicinity.

The police said that there are reports some members of the public may have been using their mobile telephone recording facilities at the time of the crime and that they would like to hear from those individuals.

Police are urging anyone who can assist them to contact the non-emergency number 101 referring to log 453 of 10 November 2014.
