The country was bathed in darkness today as the first solar eclipse for over a decade took place over Europe.
Parts of the country were subjected to an eerie darkness after the moon crossed in front of the sun, blocking out much of its light.
In Scotland the ‘cover-over’ effect of the moon was 98%, meaning only the glow of the sun around the edges – rather than any direct light – was visible.
