The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) has announced a restructure to its management team at a meeting with elected board members on April 1.
The restructure will introduce the role of executive director in place of CEO, in an effort to bring the organisation in-line with the practice elsewhere in many non-profit organisations.
RJC said that chief operating officer (COO) Catherine Sproule will work with the executive director to provide “valuable continuity” to the organisation’s global structure.
The new management structure will also include a standards director as RJC rebuilds its standards team from recent turnover.
RJC said the “successful implementation” of the revised code of practices (COP) has allowed it to focus on increasing its membership through the supply chain and by geography.
RJC also recently appointed an ‘Indian manager’, which it says demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to the Indian market and that it recognises it as a “key player” in the jewellery pipeline.
As a result of the restructure, the RJC said its existing CEO has left the organisation.
