Drakes Jewellers in Plymouth has been shortlisted for the Medium-Sized Business of the Year Award in the 2015 Herald Business Awards

Drakes, which was last year awarded the Business of the Year award at Plymouth’s City and Waterfront Awards 2014, was added to the shortlist by an experienced judging panel.

The winner of the award, which aims to celebrate businesses with between 26 and 149 employees, will be announced at a black tie event on April 23, 2015, and will be hosted at Plymouth Pavilions.

The family-run business said it is “thrilled” to have been shortlisted for the award.

Monique Hirshman, director at the company, said: “We are delighted and honoured to have been shortlisted for this incredible award. The last year has been one of the most exciting yet, with the opening of our newly refurbished and relocated flagship store.

“Winning this award would really be a testament to the amazing hard work of all of our team and everything we have achieved in the past year. We are looking forward to attending the awards to celebrate the successes of all the local Plymouth businesses.”
