CCTV images have been released showing a gang of robbers who executed the Hatton Garden burglary over the Easter weekend, stealing millions of pounds worth of jewellery.

The images show three men using a side door situated in Greville Street, and then making their way to and from the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit company.

The footage suggests the raiders entered the premises on two occasions over the Easter weekend, firstly on Thursday, April 2, at 21.19 before leaving the following morning at 08:12. They then returned over a day later on Saturday, April 4, at 22:17 before leaving the following morning at 06:44.

The thieves disabled the communal lift on the second floor and then used the lift shaft to climb down into the basement, where the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit is located. Police said that there was no sign of forced entry to the outside of the building.

A total of 72 safety deposit boxes were opened during the raid, out of 999 boxes in the vault.

On Friday (April 10) it emerged that the police had received a call confirming an intruder alarm had been activated at the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit. Police are currently investigating why the call was given a grade that meant no police response was deemed to be required.

DCI Paul Johnson, the officer in charge of the investigation, said: “The imagery released today [Saturday, April 11] is of three suspects and a van used by them in the Easter bank holiday weekend burglary at Hatton Garden Safety Deposit.

“This footage, along with other material, was already recovered by police at the earliest opportunity, and continues to be evaluated to capture the precise movements of the suspects.

“The investigation team have been collecting CCTV footage within the Hatton Garden area since the incident and will continue to do so. I would appeal to neighbouring businesses, or members of the public who are either witnesses or in possession of CCTV footage, to contact us with information to support this enquiry.”

Johnson said the examination of the scene has been “painstaking” and will continue this week.
