The sales are a like-for-like growth of 4.7% compared with the previous year. Despite this, 42% of the individual members businesses were down, 42% up and 16% level with the previous year.

The NAJ said this was a which is a more “realistic indication of the actual trading conditions” faced by retail jewellers in the UK in 2015.

Michael Donaldson the EDF Facilitator, said: “members benefit not only from shared performance data in key areas such as: turnover, margins, product and promotions but from the shared knowledge and experience that lies behind the individual performances, enabling others to minimise risk and maximise opportunity.”
