Holts Academy of Jewellery has been shortlisted for the Positive Social Impact award, part of the 2016 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards.

Holts Academy – a training provider for the jewellery industry – was chosen from the hundreds of businesses that entered or were nominated across 18 award categories.

It will now prepare for live presentations to an expert judging panel, who will decide the overall winners.

Described as “the Oscars of great British business” by former prime minister David Cameron, this year’s award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, 15 November, at London’s Grosvenor House hotel on Park Lane.

Gabriel Gherscovic, CEO of Holts Academy, said: “We back the government’s goal of achieving three million apprenticeships by 2020 and do this by giving accredited training in jewellery craftsmanship, technical design, retail, business skills.

“We are proud of our work growing talent within the jewellery sector, regenerating this traditional industry and reducing unemployment.”

The company runs courses in craftsmanship, manufacturing, technical design, retail and business skills from its schools in London’s Hatton Garden area and Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.
