Scotland-based Vanilla Ink Studios has partnered with goldsmith Scott McIntyre to create a new jewellery school.

The Vanilla Ink Jewellery School says it aims to close the gap between education and the industry, and wants to “shape and grow” the jewellery sector in Scotland.

A crowdfunding campaign has been set up to help the new school fund the future goldsmiths of Scotland and the money will be used to build the workshop.

The jewellery school will build on the existing model of Vanilla Ink Studios, which offers professional development sessions, one-to-one mentoring and access to a fully equipped studio.

McIntyre, lead goldsmith and director of Vanilla Ink Jewellery School, said: “It became apparent not long into my career that not everyone was blessed with the training I received.

“It was then I decided that what was most important was to pass my skills on, to train the next generation of jewellers; educating, inspiring and empowering them with the same opportunities that I was given.”

The Vanilla Ink Jewellery School will open at the end of May.
