Petra Diamonds has announced the appointment of three non-executive directors who will join the company.

Amongst the appointments includes Deborah Gudgeon, who will also join as chair-designate of the audit and risk committee, she is currently an independent non-executive director and chair of the audit committee at Evraz plc, which she joined in 2015.

She qualified as an ACA at PwC before spending eight years as finance executive with Lonrho plc, and then held positions with Deloitte, BDO, Gazelle Corporate Finance and Penfida Limited.

Alexandra Watson also joins the group as a non-independent non-executive director. She is a former chair of the accounting practices committee of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and is currently chair of the South African Financial Reporting Investigations Panel.

Finally, joining the group as a non-independent non-executive director, is Johannes Bhatt.

He was previously a non-executive board member of Stemcor Global Holdings, having previously been for ten years with Scholz Holding GmbH, latterly as CFO.

Peter Hill, non-executive chairman, Petra Diamonds, said: “I would like to welcome Deborah, Alex and Johannes to the Board of Petra; together they bring a wealth of experience, complementing those of our existing directors, and their appointments leave the board well placed to take the company forward”.
