Gembridge has announced the launch of its new Phenomenal Gems collection inspired by unusual optical effects.

The Phenomenal Gems collection comprises phenomena such as; Chatoyancy or cat’s eye effect in the cat’s eye Chrysoberyl, Asterism in the Corundum or change of colour in various gemstones, mainly sapphires, alexandrites and garnets.

The Chrysoberyl gem exhibits an amazing change of colour phenomenon from bluish green in daylight, to purple in incandescent light.

Another gem in the collection is the exceptionally large (120.25 cts) pair of no heat round blue Sapphires with a distinct Trapiche Asterism pattern from southern Vietnam.

All the gems can be used in a number of different types of jewellery including earrings, bracelets and amulets.

Jean Jureidini, commercial director, said: “The title of this collection says it all: some stones interact with light in ways that give them unusual optical effects, or phenomena. There are phenomenal gems at all market levels and budgets.”
