Watchfinder – the pre-owned watch specialist and shirt sponsor of England Rugby League – has presented Jermaine McGillvary with a special prize after he was voted England’s player of the tournament at Rugby League World Cup 2017.
McGillvary was gifted with a Breitling Colt worth over £4,500.
The Huddersfield Giants winger played a vital role in seeing England crowned World Cup runners-up for the first time since 1995, narrowly losing out to host nation and tournament favourites Australia in the final, 6-0.
Rugby League fans voted in their thousands in the Watchfinder-hosted public poll to find England’s standout performer, and McGillvary came out on top with 45% of the vote – ahead of Gareth Widdop (23%) and James Graham (4%) in the poll.
Matt Bowling, director of Watchfinder, said: “It gives us great pleasure to be able to present McGillvary with the Breitling Colt in honour of his fantastic performances for England in the Rugby League World Cup. Although we were narrowly beaten in the final by Australia, making our first final since 1995 is an excellent achievement and one filled with excitement.
“Having the Watchfinder logo on the England sleeves during the tournament all the way to the final was also a great honour; we’re very proud to have joined England on their thrilling journey.”
