Victorian 27ct sapphire brooch to be auctioned in Newcastle

Anderson and Garland Auctioneers has announced that it is set to auction a Victorian sapphire and diamond brooch retailed by Wartski with an estimated value of £60,000 to £80,000.

The brooch features a circular sapphire cabochon weighing approximately 27.35 carats exhibiting a rare asterism effect under bright light.

Encircled by 12 old cut diamonds totalling approximately 14.40 carats the piece is mounted in silver and gold complete with its original fitted box from the jeweller Wartski.

Other notable lots include a stunning mid nineteenth Century diamond bow brooch late Georgian early Victorian estimated at £50,000 to £60,000.

Set with chubby old mine cut diamonds its total diamond weight is approximately 23.50 carats.

There is also a large and impressive nineteenth Century sapphire and diamond butterfly brooch estimated at £6,000 to £7,000 set with rose cut diamonds and graduated facet cut sapphires showcasing expert craftsmanship.

Furthermore, there is a late nineteenth Century diamond butterfly brooch estimated at £5,000 to £6,000 adorned with old mine cut diamonds and ruby cabochon set eyes in a silver fronted yellow gold mount.

These items are all available from Anderson and Garland’s Fine Jewellery Auction on Wednesday 2 April.
