A gang of moped thieves wielding samurai swords and sledge hammers have raided the Watches of Switzerland jewellery store on London’s Regent Street.

The Metropolitan Police were called to the scene at 14:09 on 18 March 2018, following reports of a smash-and-grab raid at a jewellers by a group of suspects on mopeds. Officers are currently working to determine exactly what has been stolen.

Scotland Yard said in a statement: “Upon arrival officers found evidence of a ‘smash and grab’ theft at the premises with a number of display cabinets smashed open and a range of high value items stolen from the watch jewellers.

“The suspects left the scene prior to police arrival and made off on mopeds. No one is believed to be injured during the course of this smash and grab raid.”
