Precious metal recycling company Mastermelt has announced that Gary Williams is set to step down after nearly 15 years as general manager.

Williams, who is a trustee of the Silversmiths and Jewellers Charity and president of the National Association of Jewellers, will now be focusing on new Mastermelt initiatives and pan-European projects.

As a result of this, Williams will be replaced by Stephen Groves. Groves started with Mastermelt as an IT specialist and over the last decade has been instrumental in delivering critical systems, new procedures and strategic projects at Mastermelt sites across the globe.

Williams said: “I have loved directing and growing the Presman and Mastermelt businesses. Over the years, I have watched our customer base grow dramatically, and it continues to grow, as many new reclamation customers join us because of our well-deserved reputation for integrity and transparency.

“I have built strong customer focussed teams, committed to delivering exceptional service and high returns. This unrivalled service will continue under the stewardship of my successor, Stephen Groves. It is the right time for me to move over and let the next generation come through and take the jewellery business forward.”
