R.L. Austen was established in 1794, originally trading as E.H. Lewis. The Chichester business sells jewellery, watches and related items, and provides repair, valuation and bespoke services.

In a LinkedIn post, Weir and Sons said: “The acquisition presents an opportunity to build on R.L. Austen’s strengths while supporting its next phase of growth. The firm pledged to maintain the high standards of craftsmanship and customer service associated with the Chichester store.

“We look forward to supporting the entire R.L. Austen team as we build on these strong foundations together. Our intention is to honour the store’s legacy while bringing new opportunities for its future development.”
