Hublot has announced the launch of the Big Bang e, described as a connected watch equipped with the latest technology. It is the newest embodiment of its previous Big Bang model.
The Big Bang e is available in a 42 mm case, made from either titanium or ceramic. The hour numerals are metallised underneath a scratch-proof sapphire crystal, which is covered with an amoled high definition touchscreen.
The timepiece was developed in partnership with other brands within the LVMH Group, and like the mechanical version of the Big Bang, the rotary crown with an integrated pusher is used to activate the controls for its electronic module.
Apart from the ‘Time Only’ analogue function, the timepiece features exclusive interpretations of traditional watch complications, such as a perpetual calendar with a precise moon phase, or a second GMT time zone.
Hublot said that these functionalities have been “revisited and enhanced to take advantage of the possibilities offered by the digital world”.
The water-resistant watch is powered with Wear OS by Google, allowing wearers to access apps on Google Play, use Google Assistant and make payments through Google Pay.
The first edition of the timepiece is part of the #HublotLovesArt movement. With a design led by Marc Ferrero, the dial changes colour every three hours, so that eight varieties are displayed over a 24-hour period.
In addition, every full hour is marked with the appearance of an animation that lasts for five seconds.
The watch will be sold online through the brand’s website, as well as on the Wechat network in China. It will later be available to purchase in boutiques and the traditional network.
