Created in partnership with JTV and described as “a fine-tuned introduction to gemology”, the GemBasics course is for gem enthusiasts, jewellery lovers and starting collectors alike.
Gem-A’s award plaque was presented to the association’s international ambassador, Dr Jack Ogden, and was given for “a unique approach for an exciting product classification”.
“We are deeply touched and honoured to be presented with this award. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to develop a course that is aimed at the growing number of consumers interested in gems and learning more about them,” remarked Dr Ogden.
JTV states that to receive the award, business ideas “must be relevant, scalable, and generate incremental sales”.
CEO and president of JTV Timothy Matthews commented: “The award is emblematic of the continued strong partnership between JTV and Gem-A, and the shared passions of both organizations for leadership in gemstone education.”
Gem-A is the world’s oldest provider of gem education and, together with JTV, recognised the potential to develop a curriculum for those keen to learn more about gemstones without necessarily wanting a degree in gemology.
