Frequented by shoppers, stylists, design enthusiasts and craft collectors alike, the Open Studios give visitors a chance to have a ‘behind-the-scenes’ shopping spree.

Previous visitors to the event were asked to fill in a survey to highlight the link between craft and longevity. The survey found that more than 90 per cent of the respondents keep crafted items for longer than those that are mass produced.

“Today, it seems, craft shoppers are sowing the seeds of sustainability – looking for beautifully made design originals which they intend to keep for life,” said a spokesperson for Cockpit Arts.

Besides browsing for a design original at Open Studios, visitors can take part in a workshop with leading ceramist Katharine Morling and indulge in cocktails at its café.

The Holborn event will take place from 7 to 9 June and the Deptford Event from 14 to 16 June. For more information visit www.cockpitarts.com
