Tivon Fine Jewellery has announced the winners of its inaugural International Design Competition.

The competition was launched in August of this year, calling for any amateur or professional designers to submit designs via the firm’s official Facebook page.

The winning design would then be made up by Tivon and exhibited at several international trade shows with 20 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of the piece going to the charity of the designer’s choice.

The top four designs were selected and put up on Tivon’s Facebook page with thousands of votes helping to decide the winner. Director, Ariel Tivon said: “I can tell you I honestly did not have one clear favourite and having to choose a winner left me with some sleepless nights.”

The company announced a joint win by designer Mara Machado from Brazil who submitted her winning entry entitled Hummingbirds and Abigail Buckingham from North Lincolnshire, UK who submitted her winning entry entitled The Waterfall Necklace.

Tivon added: “It was seriously difficult to pick a clear winner. On the one hand we had all these votes coming in from across the world, even countries where we have never had reach before. On the other hand, as a jewellery business, we had to balance the outcome of voting with the commercial viability of the piece as well as the technical complexity of actually making up the pieces.”

The two charities in which proceeds from the sale of the pieces will go are Awakening Without Violence and The Goldsmiths Centre.
