Jewellery produced in the mid-20th century by artists in collaboration with Italian jeweller Mario Masenza will be sold in a 220-lot sale of fine jewellery at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions.
The wider auction will feature collections from the UK and Europe, spanning across the late 18th Century through Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco periods to jewellery from the major ateliers of the 20th and 21st Centuries.
Masenza, who came from an illustrious family of Italian jewellers, collaborated with emerging young Italian artists and offered his stunning original jewellery to an elite client list, including the Italian royal family.
Some of the finest pieces on sale at the auction will include a clip brooch set, designed in collaboration with Franco Cannilla, featuring a cascade of emeralds, cabochon rubies and sapphires estimated at £1,500 to £2,000.
The auction will also include a clip brooch set designed in collaboration with Afro Basadella and his brother Mirko, estimated at £1,200 to £1,500.
Further highlights include a Victorian diamond brooch and cluster ear pendants, a Victorian pink spinel and diamond brooch, a late 19th Century Indian sub-continent gem set long chain and a sapphire and diamond swirl clip by Tiffany £ Co.
The sale will be held on Wednesday 9th July 2014 at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions’ Donnington Priory saleroom in Berkshire.
