Bath-based independent jeweller Justice has announced the closure of its Bath store after its owner put the parent company into voluntary liquidation.

The store, which is located in Bath’s main shopping area on Upper Borough Walls and been open almost 20 years, has been put into voluntary liquidation by owner Jon Quayle.

Justice also operates a store in Winchester, but the two locations have been divided with the Winchester store now operating under a new company name, Justice of Winchester.

Quayle said: “Upon advice, I have decided to close the Bath store. It’s been a tough decision. I was hoping to at least trade to Christmas and then review, but there is little likelihood I would be doing any more than delaying the inevitable.

“I know this sounds dramatic, but it is being done as an orderly closure and my aim is to protect the developing and successful business that we have here in Winchester.”

Quayle said that all staff at its Winchester store will be retained.
