The number of gold articles hallmarked in the month of September have dropped by 21.6%, when compared with the same period last year.
This has brought the figure for the total number of metals hallmarked down by a relatively marginal 3.7%.
This is partially due to the strength of silver and platinum, which saw hallmarked articles increase by 14.8% and 54.9% respectively when compared with September 2016.
Palladium suffered similar results to gold, with a drop of 21.3%.
With September closing off Q3, the amount of metals hallmarked increased by 3.9% overall.
