SOHAVI has launched its ‘Always a Princess’ initial necklace, a product it said harnesses customers’ growing desire for personalised jewellery.

To create the piece, the London-based artisan jewellery brand reinterpreted the signature initial necklace worn by Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, a suffragette, humanitarian and Royal Indian descendent.

Her royal title hailed from her grandfather Maharaja Ranjit Singh, known as the ‘Lion of Punjab’, and father Maharaja Duleep Singh of the Sikh Empire. She was additionally goddaughter to Queen Victoria.

Created for the contemporary consumer, SOHAVI’s necklace is designed to be layered and styled across collections.

The company said that as personalisation continues to shape the fine and demi-fine jewellery industry, the necklace provides retailers with a “culturally rich, story-led” item that caters for the demand for narratives surrounding individuality and heritage.

The launch takes place as a new exhibition highlighting the legacy of the Maharaja Duleep Singh family is set to open at Kensington Palace on 26 March, which SOHAVI said offers retailers a “timely storytelling opportunity”.

It said that the necklace follows the belief that jewellery is not only an adornment, but a signature, adding that personalised jewellery surpasses “fleeting trends” to become “ritual”.

Commenting on the launch, SOHAVI founder Nicci Dhamu said: “Always a Princess is not about title – it is about sovereignty of self. We are seeing customers invest in jewellery that reflects who they are and what they stand for.”
