McKellars Jewellers wins at Lanarkshire Business Awards

McKellars Jewellers has won at the Lanarkshire Business Awards, winning both Best Specialised Retailer for South Lanarkshire and Best Gift Shop in Lanarkshire.

The jeweller said it was “lucky” to be nominated for both categories, and was then entered into the grand final of Scotlands Business Awards which was held on the 26 May at the Glasgow Marriott Hotel, where it also won Best Specialised Retailer in Scotland for 2019.

McKellars has been trading throughout Lanarkshire since 1904, and is now based in Lanark where it has become “established during” the past 30 years.

Whilst none of the original McKellar family are now involved in the business, the current director Ken Scott and his son Dougie both work in the shop, keeping with the family connection to the business.

A statement by the jeweller read: “As a small business and an independent retailer, our small team work very hard to provide a level of service to our customers that is not only very personal, but is better than that of the big multiples and online internet providers.

“We have worked very hard in ensuring McKellars is an asset to Lanark High Street and we try to help, support and contribute to the wider community wherever possible. We are fully aware that it is the local people of Lanark and the surrounding areas that keep our business alive. Without them and their support we would not have a business.

“It is a pleasure and a privilege to serve the people of Lanark and the surrounding towns. McKellars as a business has been doing this since 1904 and we hope that with the continued support of the town we will still be providing this service in another 115 years time.”
