Thief swallows earrings in jewellery store raid

A thief has reportedly swallowed two pairs of white gold earrings during a raid on a Hull jewellers.

The raid, which occurred on Monday 23 December, saw the suspect take off with over £13,000 worth of jewellery.

The suspect allegedly left the store with a yellow 18 carat gold diamond ring and a platinum diamond ring on his fingers.

He is also believed to have swallowed a pair of 18ct white gold earrings and a pair of white gold earrings before fleeing the scene. 

A spokesperson for Humberside police said: “We are looking for this suspect in connection with the theft of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery from a city centre jewellers in Hull. 

“It happened at the shop in the St Stephens Centre on Ferensway on Monday 23 December just before 5pm.” 

They added: “More than £13,000 worth of items were stolen, including a pair of 18 carat white gold diamond earrings, a pair of white gold earrings, a yellow 18 carat gold diamond ring, and a platinum diamond ring.

“He put the rings on his fingers and it’s thought he swallowed the earrings before leaving the store. No one was hurt during the incident.” 

The suspect is described as black, around 30 years old, 5ft5 and slim, with a shaven head. He was wearing a dark grey jacket with a furry hood, a long sleeved blue top, blue jeans and light grey trainers.
