Those first 12 Swatch models, released on 1 March 1983, are credited in some quarters with revolutionising and reviving the Swiss watch industry. Comprising 51 parts and costing under 50 Swiss francs, the innovative watches were made in plastic, a material that has become synonymous with the brand since its introduction.
To commemorate its milestone, Swatch has released SWATCH Est. 1983, a watch featuring a transparent plastic case and strap and a skeleton dial offering a clear view of the movement within. Key components are highlighted in gold, while the word ‘celebrate’ appears in black.
