The chief executive of the Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ), Willie Hamilton, is to take on a role in CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, as executive vice president of Sector B covering jewellery distribution.

CIBJO president Dr Gaetano Cavalieri said: “The CIBJO board of directors has discussed what is widely felt to be an imbalance in our organisation, by which the level of activity in Sector A (gem materials) considerably outweighs the level of activity in both Sector B (jewellery distribution) and Sector C (jewellery manufacturing/ technology/precious metals).”

Dr Cavalieri continued: “It is my strong feeling that, to remedy the situation, Sector B requires an injection of dynamic leadership and managerial acumen.”

Hamilton who will be working alongside Sector B president Ivan Hayden and non-executive vice presidents Melanie Wakefield and Trine Thorning, said: “My work as chief executive of the CMJ will run in tandem with the role I have now undertaken at CIBJO.”
