Online jewellery retailer Gemporia has expanded into northern Europe by launching French and German versions of its website.

Despite already shipping worldwide, Gemporia, which is owned by the Genuine Gemstone Company, the new venture will be a first for the company which previously handled all customers on its UK website.

The new site will now offer a full ‘human translation’ page, rather than just Google translate.

The company will also integrate its range with Google Shopping Channels and hopes to develop its presence on social media channels in order to gain understanding of customer demand in these territories.

Steve Bennett, co-founder of the Genuine Gemstone Company, said the decision to expand into these countries was “a natural step for the company.”

Bennett said: “Our French and German customer base is expanding and we wanted to provide a better user experience as we continue to grow in the European market. While our full range is not yet available on our French and German sites, we have tailored our stock to complement current trends in each country.”
